How do I change the background wallpaper in Mandriva?
Well, I'll assume that you use KDE, the default graphical interface with Mandriva. KDE is highly configurable, and most of it is accessible from the KDE Control Center.
The KDE Control Center is in the main Mandriva menu, under System -> Configuration -> Configure your desktop (Figure 1) and in the control center, select the LookNFeel -> Background tab (Figure 2).
In this window, you have quite a few options:
- No picture,
- Picture,
- Slide show.
If you select the No picture option, you will be able to set the background to a plain color, various kinds of gradients, or a pattern. Personally, I like the elliptic gradient with two colors. There is no real advice to give you, just try all the options and see what you like! In this window, you will be able to play with all colors, gradients, and patterns.
For the Picture mode, you will have to choose an image (it can be anything, really), and the tiling mode. For instance, if your image is too small for the screen, you might want it centered with a black background, scaled to fill up the screen, or titled... All options are possible, and once again, it depends on your image, and your taste, so play around and see what you like.
The last option Slide show will ask you to define a list of picture at the rate at which you want them to be changed. Once started, you will get .... a slide show!
Well, that's all I can say for now. I hope this answer your question!
